"Little Rainbow" began in 1979 with Tom
coming home to find a baby nubian-togg cross, Daisy, on our recreation
room couch (in Barbara's lap)! We shortly found out that you can't have
just one little goat, they are social animals and do not do well alone.
So along came Buttercup, a grade Toggenburg "kid", or baby goat.
Since then the herd has grown and the dairy was begun. Daniel was born Aug of
1979 and since we already had the goats we purchased a milking doe for
milk for him. It was about a year later that we realized that Dan was
very allergic to cow's milk, and thus the beginning stages of the dairy.
As we developed some of the cheeses, mainly
for Dan's diet and to use us the extra milk, we were approached to set
up a dairy and sell our products.
