"One of New York's Oldest & Finest Goat Dairies"
Hi!  and   Welcome to our site!!
We at Little Rainbow have been raising goats for over 25yrs.  All of our goats are raised on a CAE preventative program with separation at birth, heat treated colostrum and pasteurized milk.  At birth, the babies are brought inside to get thoroughly dried and spend their first days in our sunlit warm greenhouse.  They are watched over carefully by Amber and Jade, while Barkley assists in taking care of the dams and supervises when we are milking.

There have been many changes in our lives this past year and the upcoming year promises to be more exciting.  While we no longer produce cheese, we have maintained our commercial dairy status and ship milk regularly.  Our communication business, Rainbow Communications Inc.  is now going into its 4th year and has kept us very busy.  Also in the planning stages are two very special projects.  One is a book, "Chevre - Goat Milk to Goat Cheese",  and the other is the production of our "secret blend" of herbs that made our cheeses so very popular.

We hope you enjoy exploring our site as well as some of our favorite links, including the pages about our cheeses.  So take some time and visit with our animals, does, bucks, puppies; with our product pages. Please email us with any questions or comments, we love to hear from you.

As many of you in the industry have heard, we have lost our milk contract and because of that and for health reasons we are forced to reduce our herd drastically. We are striving to find excellent loving homes for these wonderful creatures and friends of ours. We invite you to inquire by calling or emailing us, regarding any of the animals you may be interested in. We are also striving to put up a list of animals on this site. Please bear with us, as of tonight we have a count of 116 animals on our farm and it's a huge undertaking deciding which ones we can find new homes for, and which ones will live their life out here (Such as Jasmyn, Mirabelle, Bridie, Maiden, Pie). As we are able we will list the animals that are for sale and strive to keep it as updated as we can. At this time, approximately 80-90% of the does are bred, and some of the lines we used are mentioned below. We wish to thank everyone for their many years of support, especially at this time. Thanks, Barbara & Tom Reed

"Toggenburg" -- In 2000, we added CH Sun-Kissed Razz Zack to our herd - We now have some absolutely beautiful yearling milkers from him that we are extremely pleased with.  He worked very well with our Jazzman and our Jacob lines.  While Zack is deceased, we have retained his son  *B Little Rainbow SKRZ Zackary in our herd. Our Little Rainbow DDCC "Jacob"  daughters milk very well, with high well attached mammaries, and also show very well, placing at the top of their classes.  The Jazzman daughters continue to freshen with beautiful udders and bodies as they have in the past. His last daughter freshened this fall as lovely as her full sister Bernadette. We are sorry to say that we lost Jazzman this year, at the age of 9, and the remaining semen is reserved in our tank. Last fall we added a wonderful new junior herdsire to our breeding program, *B Robla's The Lone Ranger (Dam:Whispering Hope N Chinquapin *M.  EX 90 (VEEE); Sire:  *B Rowe's Maestro Ranger).  We used this young sire on Jasmyn as well as many of our "J" line daughters. Jasmyn finally gave us a beautiful daughter by Ranger and Mirabelle gave us a daughter and a son, that we have retained and used extensively in the herd by the name of *B Little Rainbow Ranger Marshall. Our AI program was successful in that Brandie gave us a georgous son out of Rowe's Maestro, his name is *B Little Rainbow Maestro's Monte.

"Lamancha" -- "Beacon" is still our  Lamancha Herdsire. His daughters have carbon copy udders that are just beautiful!  "Bo" was his first daughter to finish her GCH,  and he has three finished Champion daughters and two other daughters with championship legs.  Our Junior herdsire, *B Winterwood's CM Bearclaw  has given us some really absolutely beautiful offspring.  We are looking forward to seeing the daughters in milk this coming spring.  The daughters that have freshened so far are very tall, long, upstanding and angular; they excel in dairy character with wonderful levelness over the topline and a high wide well attached mammary that milks exceptionally well. We are looking forward to freshening more daughters this spring. As with our Toggs, our AI was very successful last year with a couple of outstanding young sires being born. The first being, Little Rainbow RHC "Chapps", a beautiful tan and white buck out of a very correct Beacon daughter, Brindle, and sired by Redwood Hills Chapparal (he is for sale at this time). We also have a son from Winterwood CM BearClaw & GCH Little Rainbow YY Bridie for sale. The other young buck we used extensively this year was an AI breeding by Tempo Jessie O and GCH Little Rainbow SusieQ; his name is *B Little Rainbow TJO Jeronimo. *B Little Rainbow LOB Sebastian (GCH Little Rainbow Susie Q and Beacon) was also used quite a bit this season.
